There are plenty of sites to see, places to visit, and things to try out while visiting Caithness...

We will post a good selection shortly to get you planning...

Archery;

Archaeology; There are lots of interesting places in Caithness and Sutherland, particularly Dunbeath where you can enjoy this interest.

Art;
Angling; You will be spoilt for choice if you wish to spend time fishing. There are a number of excellent lochs and rivers. Permits can be organised easily by contacting Hugo Ross who has an angling shop in the town and he will give you all the advice and information you need.

Bird Watching; Caithness is a bird watchers paradise with many rare and diverse varieties of birds being reported.
There are many organised events for enthusiasts and lots of areas where different species are noted as being seen.

Beach Combing or picnics; The area has a number of lovely beaches, Reiss Beach, Dunnet Beach to name just two sand beaches. There are also many small coastal areas and village harbours where you can enjoy time on your own or with the kids.

Boat Trips; There are several folks here who run boat trips from speed boats for thrill seekers to relaxing trips along the coast in comfort. Many trips take you into small coves and you can even view caves, or if you have time you can take a short trip over to Orkney. Leaflets will be in your holiday home
Bat Hunting;
Castles; We have beautiful historical properties in the area. This photograph is Dunbeath Castle which opens its gardens to the public during the summer. A must see is The Castle of Mey which now has its own visitor centre. The Castle was the home of the late Queen Mother and Prince Charles still has an interest in the area and visits regularly and was quoted in one newspaper as saying that Caithness was one of his favourite counties... a man of good taste!

Concerts; Here we have Phil Bain and Aly Cunningham who will be performing at The Assembly Rooms in wick in September. There are a number of groups and individal performers who come to Caithness - we had the Red hot Chilli Pippers and many local acts are excellent and worth seeing during your stay. See our events section for a list of what is on. I will pop in a print out of what is all on during your visit so that you can decide what you will see and do while in the county.

Coastal Walks; For those of you who are willing to make the effort you will be richly rewarded by the glorious and breathtaking views of our coastline. Not all areas are easily accessible and stout walking shoes are a must. Come prepared for all kinds of weather for we can boast four seasons in one day. Saying that when the sun shines our county is one of the most beautiful you can find with beaches, little coves, grand cliffs, castles and a wide array of flora, fauna and wildlife.

Crazy Golf;
Ceilidhs;
Day Trips;

Eating Out; We do recommend that you try The Bistro located on The Shortest Street, Ebeneezer Place, Wick ( menu available in each home).
