The Harvey Bros
We at Pan Records welcome Andrew and Craig Harvey "The Harvey Bros" to our label with this, their debut CD recording. We feel we have one of the best piping albums to hit the shelves in many years, both brothers are exceptionally talented pipers, the backing arrangements all done by Phil Anderson much recognised for his great arranging, we feel Phil has done a great job on this album.
The choice of material, the Harvey brothers own, and ranges from a traditional pipe band background (drums by Grant Lyall) to acoustic instrument backing to a more modern style of piping. Acoustic and electric instruments played by Phil Anderson, bodhran by Erik Laughton recorded at Storm Sound Studio, Kirkwall and Studio-D, Wick and produced by Phil Anderson.
Andrew and Craig Harvey, brothers from the village of Thrumster in Caithness, have been playing bagpipes since primary school, both members of the Caithness Junior pipe band. Andrew became pipe major at the age of 13 years old and with the junior pipe band played for Prince Charles at the Mey Games. They are both provisional mod winners, Craig 2 times winner of the Caithness music festival, took first in his heat at Wick pipe band competitions. Today, Andrew and Craig play regularly in their native Caithness, also members of the Thurso pipe band, have taken part in Pipefest in Edinburgh, competed at the European Championships, in Inverness and the Worlds in Glasgow as well as appearances in Holland, Ireland, Germany, played at the Pan Celtic Festival in Ireland, solo piping. Craig, solo piper, piped Prince Charles off the field at the 2009 Mey Games.
